Selwyn Politics Society is a student-led society which exists to facilitate passionate discussion over the defining issues of our time. We host diverse perspectives from across the political spectrum, and serve as a vibrant platform for debate here at Selwyn and in the wider Cambridge community. Our events cover a range of pressing topics in the world of politics, tackling everything from the future of institutions like the BBC to questioning 'what's changed?' under the current Labour government. Over the past year, we've been lucky enough to have hosted several prominent figures in politics, journalism and law here at Selwyn. Recent guests have included the political editor of 'The Guardian' Anushka Asthana, Shadow Attorney General David Wolfson, and Starmer's biographer Tom Baldwin. Our speakers provide a unique opportunity for guests to engage directly with the people shaping our political and cultural landscape. Events are amazing opportunities to meet leading figures, expand your network and explore potentional careers. Outside of panels and speaker events, we also collaborate with other Cambridge politics societies for fun socials, pub crawls and formal swaps. Feel free to join us as a member or to just come along to our exciting termly events: whether you're committed political activist or someone who just wants to understand the what's going on the news better, everyone is welcome.
